Sometimes, our pastors bite off more than they can chew in a single sermon, meaning they have to cut some of their better anecdotes or stories. We thought Joel’s nixed opening was worth sharing here, plus it gives us a chance to talk about our new sermon series! Last Sunday, Joel began “The Gospel According to Daniel” by reminding us that Daniel’s story speaks directly to our life of faith today. Daniel found himself living in Babylon, surrounded by a culture that invited him to find his identity, security, and satisfaction in its values and promises. Yet Daniel’s resolve was rooted in knowing that God, not Babylon, was the main character of his story.
